On 5/6/2024 at approximately 0052 hours, Soldotna AST stopped to check on a male pedestrian at the Kasilof River Bridge who was flashing a flashlight into traffic. The male was subsequently identified as John Amend, age 51 of Kenai, who initially provided a false name, but was positively identified and found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Additionally, Amend was found to be on conditions of release for a Kenai court case. Amend was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility on the two outstanding arrest warrants (which were both for DWLR), as well as new charges of providing false information and violating conditions of release.

On 05/05/2024 at about 2125 hours, Seward AST conducted a traffic stop on the Seward Highway in Crown Point. The driver was identified as Terry Coykendall, 53 YOA of Anchorage. The investigation revealed that Terry was driving under the influence (DUI). Terry was placed under arrest and remanded to Spring Creek Correctional Center on 1 count of DUI.

On 5/2/24 at approximately 1538 Palmer AST observed a vehicle pull off the roadway near Fairview and Fern in an abrupt manner and park in the ATV path. AST stopped to ensure the driver did not need assistance and ultimately learnedthrough the drivers admissions that Corey Jenson, age 29 of Wasilla, was driving with a revoked license and multiple prior convictions for DWLR. Further investigation revealed Jenson was currently on pretrial supervision and had conditions of release to obey all laws. Additionally, Jenson was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Jenson was ultimately arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded without bail for Driving While License Revoked, Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances 5th Degree, and VCOR.

On 5/6/2024 at approximately 2000 hours AST responded to Wasilla in reference to a Violation of an Order of Protection. AST contacted Alex Spies Age 37, of Wasilla. Investigations revealed with probable cause that Alex violated a long-term protective order. Alex was arrested and transported to Matsu Pre-Trial where he was held on no bail for Violation of a Protective Order.

On 05/06/2024 at approximately 0326 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on Pintail Drive in Wasilla for a report of a trespassing issue. Prior to AST arrival, the suspect left in his black 2004 Ford Pickup. Troopers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the vehicle continued to a residence on Old Squaw Loop. Investigation led to the arrest of Todd Dreka, age 56 of Wasilla, for DUI, Fail to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer, and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. Dreka was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.

Newell was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where she was remanded without bail for 2 counts of DV Assault 4th Degree.

On 05/06/2024 at approximately 1754 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance off W. Lucille Creek Drive in Big Lake. Investigation revealed Jerome Phelps, age 40 of Big Lake recklessly placed two individuals in fear of physical injury due to his conduct. Jerome was placed under arrest for two counts of Assault in the 4th degree, one count being domestic violence. Jerome was transported to Matsu Pretrial, where he was remanded and held with no bail.

On 04/29/2024 at approximately 08:45 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of Vandalism at the Ambler airport. An unknown person had damaged 22 edge lights, 10 threshold lights, and 10 taxi way lights, forcing the runway to close down Saturday to all incoming flights. Estimated damage costs are over $3,000.00. There are no suspects at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Upon contact with the driver and further investigation, it was found that the driver, Douglas Brooks, was Intoxicated while driving and arrested for DUI. Douglas was transported to FCC without further incident.

On 5/6/24 the property owners of 3352 Hurst Road reported to the Fairbanks Alaska State Troopers that their property was vandalized the previous day. The people responsible entered the home, broke several doors and windows, caused significant damage to drywall and items inside and stray painted the majority of the walls.
