So far this year, pink has been the ruling colour on the red carpets of all the biggest events – from the Grammys to the Oscars to the BAFTAs. And TBH, after the last couple of years that we have had, it makes total sense that everyone is ditching the classic black in favour of something a little more fun and vibrant.
To see where our collective obsession with pink started, look to the runways. Pops of pink were all over the spring summer fashion shows – enough to make Elle Woods jump for joy. Shades of fuchsia and flamingo have been seen on catwalks everywhere – from Dior to Versace – with models serving head-to-toe hot pink lewks. Thankfully, the trend has trickled down quickly and hit all our favourite high-street stores just in time for the warmer weather.
And while there are plenty of pinks to opt for, from pale pastels to deep magenta, retina-searing hot pink is truly the standout shade of the season. Consider it the bolder, edgier version of millennial pink, bound to make that wardrobe of neutral separates feel fresh and new for the coming summer.
And we're more than ready to embrace the concept of dopamine dressing: ditching the neutrals in favour of bright and funky clothes for an instant serotonin zing. And is pink not the most joy-inducing colour you can think of?
Whatever you put it down to, be it a wearable mood-boost, high-fashion influence or simply a way to channel Legally Blonde, it’s all about pink right now. Below, I've scoured the red carpets of the biggest events of this year (as well as some celeb Instas), to bring you a curated edit of the pink trends we are loving right now. Here, see all the style inspo you need – and the very best pink outfits to keep all styles, sizes and budgets happy.
Hot pink
Zendaya in Valentino
Simone Ashley in Valentino
Saweetie in Valentino
Kim Kardashian in Balenciaga
If you are really feeling the pink trend then head-to-toe is the way to go. We loved Saweetie’s take on the look: a fuschia crop top and skirt set, complete with Bridgerton vibe opera gloves (helllooooo two trends in one).
Or you can take after the actual Bridgerton star, Simone Ashley, who nailed the trend in her sheer pink Valentino number, complete with the dreamiest mermaid waves we've ever seen.
Of course, you could copy the ever-stylish Zendaya and contrast the feminine hue with some sleek tailoring.
And who could forget Kim Kardashian's hot-pink catsuit that she wore on that fateful SNL show last year (so late in the year, in fact, that we'd argue it's basically 2022)? She brought all the drama, and we are so here for it.
Pink accessories
Justin Bieber in Balenciaga
Travis Barker in Givenchy
Lizzo in a glossy pink coat selected bystylist Jason Rembert
Olivia Rodrigo in Vivienne Westwood
We get it: all-pink lewks can be a little daunting. A slightly more wearable version of the trend is the pop of pink, as seen on Justin Bieber who paired a neon fuchsia beanie with a super-oversized Balenciaga suit at the 2022 Grammys.
Travis Barker, Kourtney Kardashian’s fiancé, also proved that pink isn’t just for the girls by wearing a shocking-pink jacket over a black suit.
One of our favourite teens, Olivia Rodrigo, also sported the punky combo of black and pink with this corseted Vivienne Westwood dress with sparkling pink accents.
Do it like Lizzo and opt for a statement pink coat over your leggings and a tee for an instant pick-me-up.
Dusty pink
Zoe Kravitz inSaint Laurent
Megan Thee Stallion inMônot
Rihanna in Diesel
Bella Hadid in vintage
Love the trend but not quite sure you can pull off full-throttle fuchsia? Take a pared-back approach to the trend with a muted blush-pink palette instead.
Zoë Kravitz looked very different from her gothic Catwoman character in this blush Saint Laurent gown, complete with Tiffany diamonds.
Megan Thee Stallion amped up the baby-pink hue with her Mônot gown. Note the hip cut-outs – another trend to watch out for this season.
As always, Rihanna is nailing maternity style with her peachy-pink PVC mini dress.
Looking for something more casual? Queen of street style, Bella Hadid, shows us how to pull off the pink trend with her vintage off-the-shoulder knit.
Pink feather dress
Kim Kardashian in Balenciaga
St Vincent in Gucci
Jessica Chastain in Gucci
Dakota Johnson in Gucci
After a few years of living in loungewear, it makes sense that we are ditching the joggers and going for all-out glam now that evenings out are back on the table. Feathers are now the ultimate luxe accessory and paired with pink, they make for *major* drama.
Case in point: St Vincent topped multiple best-dressed lists for her metallic-pink, tulle-trimmed Gucci creation at the Grammys – and Dakota Johnson wore a similar plunging feathered gown for the Vanity Fair afterparty, this time in a muted dusky pink.
Eternal style inspo Kim Kardashian's all-pink Balenciaga look - another stunner from the end of last year but we're claiming as recent and relevant enough to include here - might not quite work in the pub on Friday night, but we're feeling it all the same.
So, however, you decide to wear the trend, think pink for your wardrobe this summer.
