Salvation is very important because it’s how Christians live a better life on earth and experience everlasting life in the future.
The gift of salvation is given to us for free by God through his grace.
It’s the gift of freedom based on what the Lord Jesus Christ did for us on the cross by taking our punishment and bearing our sins.
You receive salvation when you repent from your sins, believe in the power of Jesus Christ, and receive him as your personal Lord and Savor.
The gift of salvation can’t be earned through good deeds but can be received by faith in God.

What is a Salvation Prayer
The word of God tells us that we are all sinners who can’t save ourselves from sin. God is holy and his desire is for all of his children to be holy and blameless too.
He gives us a will and freedom of choice. We choose to disobey God and go our own sinful way.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 NIV
The penalty for sin is eternal death and separation from God. But God loved us and wanted us with him always so he made a way for us through his son.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 NIV
God loved us and wanted to have a relationship with us but we were separated by sin.
He needed someone who could atone for our sins, a perfect sacrifice who could save us from ourselves and reconcile us to God and that perfect someone is his Son Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV
Christ Jesus is the Son of God who came to the world in the form of man to be amongst us and relate to us as people.

God’s justice was paid in full with the Lord’s sacrifice. Those who accept, receive, and believe are saved from the wrath of God our heavenly Father.
Through the precious blood of Jesus shed on the cross we now have power over sin and live a victorious, peaceful, and joyful life in God.
Through the miraculous resurrection of Jesus Christ, he defeated death and its power. Now through him, we can experience everlasting life. This is the good news of the Gospel of Christ Jesus.
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.” 1 Peter 3:18 NIV
Because of what Jesus went through with his death and resurrection, the name of Jesus Christ has been given power over every name in heaven and earth.
Everyone can be saved through the Name of the Lord. God’s desire is that we would know and live this truth.
This is what Apostle Paul said in his letter to his disciple Timothy:
“This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:3-4 ESV
Now God is not waiting for you to perform good works so you can experience eternal life.
His own love for us is unconditional. He sent Christ to die for you even while you were a sinner. He only requires a humble and willing spirit to receive his free gift of salvation.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 ESV
God invites us into a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ so we can experience his power, love, and amazing grace.
We accept that invitation by believing in Jesus Christ and saying the salvation prayer.
“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9-10 ESV
The salvation prayer is the most important prayer you’ll say as a Christian because it starts your journey of faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s also called the sinners’ prayer.
It’s a prayer of repentance from our sins, asking for God’s forgiveness, believing in Jesus Christ accepting him as your Lord and Savior, and allowing him to control your life.
When you get saved you’ll experience a new life. You are spiritually cleansed from sin and you start having new priorities, thought patterns as well as new behaviors, and habits.
The salvation prayer is a confession and declaration of your faith in the Lord. You can pray it by yourself with your own words or use the guided prayer below.
It’s a sincere prayer from the heart and it’s the power of the name of the Lord Jesus that will save you, not the words in the prayer.
It’s important to remember that we are saved by God’s grace and it’s that same grace that will sustain us as Christians.
Good works will never save us. The only way to be saved and remain in God is through faith in the Son of God.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
The power of the Holy Spirit transforms us and helps us to become more like Jesus Christ daily.
He gives us a steadfast spirit to remain in the Lord through all the ups and downs of life.
Simple Salvation Prayer
This Simple Salvation Prayer is a guide for you especially if it’s your first time to pray it.
Remember what’s more important is your faith and humble attitude because God values what’s in your heart.
If you are ready to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, simply recite this simple prayer.
Dear God l admit that l am a sinner who has done many things that are against your principles and teachings. I have lived my life for myself and today l repent of all my sins and ask you for your forgiveness. I turn away from my sinful life and turn to you, Lord.
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came and died for my sins. I invite you Lord Jesus Christ to come into my heart and take control of my body, mind, and soul. Guide me as l walk in the right path of life. Take away my sinful heart and put a pure heart and steadfast spirit in me.
I commit my life to you as l ask that the power of the Holy Spirit help me live a life that pleases you, God. By faith, I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior.
Help me to grow in grace and the knowledge of truth in the word of God. May I rely on the power of the Holy Spirit daily to transform me to become more like Christ Jesus. Thank you, Lord, for your wonderful saving grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

In Psalm 51, King David asked God for forgiveness. This is another example of a salvation prayer in the Bible. You can adapt the prayer and include your own words. These are a few parts of the scripture.
“Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.
